Design Fiction

Part of my work is dedicated to analyzing current trends to practice futures thinking. This is a piece of design fiction made using Illustrator. It comes from a future in which I imagine Mycelium to be a streamlined, environmentally friendly material to be used in everyday life and industrially produced products, such as furniture from our favorite brands. What if we could buy kits to grown our own furniture? What if furniture was made to be composted or regrown as we moved throughout our lives? Sustainable material innovation is an exciting trend, and with mycelium the possibilities are ever growing. The question is how do we make decisions today to achieve an exciting future like this?
